Ste grew up in Runcorn, Cheshire, and came to York University where he studied Biology and Education. He went on to become a much loved and respected Primary School teacher in York, chiefly in Naburn Primary School. He served on Fulford Parish Council as Chair and Councillor, and campaigned for the Green Party for over twenty years. A very talented musician, he wrote and performed songs solo and with his bands 'Beyond the Pale' and 'Ostler's Dog'. He also performed in many musical theatre productions with York Light and the New Earswick Musical Society. He loved history and enjoyed re-enactment events and living history throughout the north of England, but especially at Ryedale Folk Museum. Ste was loving, passionate and incredibly knowledgeable, and made friends wherever he went. St Leonards was no exception, meaning he spent his last days with the very best of care, among people he was proud to call friends.
