Yes! This is because we’ve partnered with Octopus Legacy to cover the cost of simple Wills, so our supporters can write one at no charge.

There is no fee in return, however, we simply ask supporters to consider leaving us a gift in their Will when using this service. This is completely optional, and there is no obligation to do so.

To complete the process, Octopus Legacy will ask for card details, but you will not be charged if you write a simple Will. There are optional extra charges for printing, posting and a Will update subscription, but these can be reviewed and removed at the checkout.

No. Octopus Legacy Wills allow you to complete your Will online without seeing a solicitor in person. The system guides you through the process, and the legal team checks it to ensure validity.

After your Will has been signed and witnessed, it becomes a fully legal document.

Anyone over the age of 18 living in the UK can use Octopus Legacy’s service. The free Will offer is available through partner charities, like St Leonard’s Hospice.

Typically:

– Who should inherit your estate (family, friends and/or charities)
– Guardians for children under 18
– Executors (the people who carry out your wishes)
– Any specific gifts or donations

If your estate is complex and involves trusts, overseas property or complicated arrangements, you may need a complex Will.

Octopus Legacy will provide a free simple Will and a no-obligation quote for any additional work required.

Your Will is a living document, so you’ll probably need to update it as life changes. With Octopus Legacy, you can make updates at any time. It’s free to make changes for the first year, then £10 per year after that through its subscription service.

If you decide that you no longer want the update service, you can cancel the subscription at any time by contacting Octopus Legacy. The annual charge will be stopped, and you’ll still keep your existing Will.

Yes. You can write a new Will through Octopus Legacy to replace your existing one. Updates are free for the first year, then £10 annually if you would like ongoing changes.

Firstly, thank you for considering leaving a gift to St Leonard’s in your Will.

The process is really simple, and you can either leave:

– A specific sum of money
– A percentage of your estate (often the most flexible option)
– A specific item (like jewellery, property or shares)
– A residuary gift (anything remaining after other gifts and expenses are settled)
