St Leonard’s launches first vintage ‘bop n shop’ event

The St Leonard’s furniture and vintage emporium on Ousegate in Selby is celebrating all things nostalgia in the exclusive event to be held at Selby Community Centre.

There will be lots of vintage goodies up for grabs with antiques, vintage clothing, collectables, retro homeware and furniture. The day will be full of all things vintage, and something for everyone and as always, all proceeds from the sales will go to St Leonard’s Hospice. On top of that, there will be live music and dancing and a café serving tea and cake in the finest cups and saucers – and all with a vintage theme.

Local vintage DJ, Patrick ‘Paddy’ Kilgallon set to work organising the event with Ousegate shop manager, Carol Calvert and the St Leonard’s team to bring the unique event to Selby on Sunday 31 October.

Patrick Kilgallon said: “Last year we had a few friends cared for by St Leonard’s Hospice, so we wanted to do our bit. There are lots of people looking for something to do and get back to normal and have some fun whilst supporting charity and eating cake! So we thought, rather than wait, let’s just do it ourselves!”

Carol Calvert, Shop Manager, said: “We will be celebrating all things vintage and retro, as usual, this year but this time instead of in the shop we’re holding our vintage fair on location! We just love all things vintage in this shop and have lots of wonderful one-off items ready to sell – antiques, retro, haberdashery, toys, jewellery, clothing, small furniture and quirky items! Plus they’ll be singing and dancing and tea and cake – we can’t wait to welcome everyone!”

All-day tickets for the event, which takes place from 10am – 4pm, are £3.50 (until October 30) and are available in all St Leonard’s charity shops. You can also pay on the door for £5 per person.

Entry includes: vintage dancing, music by TubaDudes Jazz &

Blues band, The Mood Swings, and DJ Paddy O’Kaye, Busy Brews Café and a raffle plus lots of vintage items to buy.
