High fashion sweeps into Selby as our charity shop gets new Spring range
Prepare to be dazzled with catwalk fashion looks, that’s the message from staff at our new Selby store!
The new charity shop on 48 Gowthorpe, is setting its sights on up to date styles straight from the catwalks, as it launches its Spring window display. Thanks to fashion expert Angela Hemmington, who has been a manager in the Selby store for just over a year, the new window display will recreate the top looks found in this Spring’s fashion magazines and European catwalks.
We’ve been recreating looks from Vogue, Elle and Tatler, among others, finding out what the top models will be wearing this Spring, says Angela, a former brand manager.
“This year we’re looking at floaty fabrics and whimsical textures, ruffles and lots of tulle,” said Angela. “Tank tops have also made a come-back, as have the classic Parka coat with a twist. Think denims, jackets and biker boots, funky styled joggers with a flash blouse, there are so many great options to choose from this year. As well as lots of colours like ballet pink, there are also lots of earthy tones as well as stripes and tartans – it’s all about wearability, but bringing a bit of glamour into it!” explained Angela.
We now have 14 stores throughout North Yorkshire and a growing following of people who are committed to sustainability and protecting the environment. Angela explains that most of the fashion houses are now following the same route.
“Most of the fashion houses are now big on using eco materials and sustainability and this year we’re seeing more people pledge to buy pre-loved clothes instead of buying new” she said.
“Why not pledge for a month to only buy pre-loved?” said Angela. “This is a great way to save money and support your local charity.”
