Actor James Norton helps raise £18,000 for St Leonard’s Hospice
Award-winning actor James Norton entertained an audience of 350 guests at St Peter’s School, York on Sunday 30 March, for a special fundraising evening in support of St Leonard’s Hospice. Interviewed live by BBC Radio York’s Elly Fiorentini, James shared insights into his North Yorkshire roots and celebrated career on stage and screen.
The event raised £18,000 to support the hospice’s compassionate care for patients and families. Speaking about his connection to the charity, James said:
“Since my mum became a trustee at St Leonard’s, we’ve spoken about hospice care more and more, because my mum always comes back from meetings at the Hospice full up with hope, describing it as a place of compassion, warmth and community. When I visited the Hospice, it was just as my mum described it, it’s a special place full of hope. So when I got the opportunity to do this fundraising, I felt it was very important and worthwhile to do.”
Sarah, Events and Community Manager from St Leonard’s Hospice said: “A huge thank you to James Norton, and his mum Lavinia for giving their time and support to St Leonard’s Hospice. As a charity that relies on our community to fund our care, we’re very grateful for the £18,000 raised through the Evening with James Norton, which will help us continue providing specialist care for those who need it.”
