Story

Having already completed the 2026 Great North Run as my "warm-up event", I am incredibly proud to be representing St Leonard's Hospice at the 2026 Yorkshire Marathon. This is my second year taking on the 26.2 miles for this wonderful charity, having previously run for them in 2025. I have had the pleasure of working for St Leonard's Hospice for just over four years now. In that time, I have seen first-hand the exceptional, compassionate care delivered by our team. Our services are entirely free at the point of delivery for patients and their families, but they are certainly not free to provide. Right now, hospice funding across the UK is in a state of national crisis. It is a worrying reality that vital care and specialist palliative services rely so heavily on public donations and community fundraising to keep their doors open. I am looking to play my small part in raising vital funds so that St Leonard’s can continue being there for local families when they need it most. I am hoping that the sight of an overweight, perilously close to middle-aged dad dragging himself across a marathon finish line inspires you to part with a few quid!
