Bring a Pound to Work

Support St Leonard’s Hospice with one simple act.

During Hospice Care Week (5 to 11 October), we’re inviting businesses across York and North Yorkshire to take part in Bring a Pound to Work Day.

The idea couldn’t be simpler. Ask colleagues to bring a pound to work and help local people living with a life-limiting illness receive expert care, comfort and support when they need it most.

While £1 may seem small, together, those pounds make a real difference. Some companies also offer match funding, so you could make the funds you raise go even further this October.

You can choose any day during Hospice Care Week to take part, but we’ll be shining a spotlight on participants on Thursday 8 October, when members of our team will be out thanking as many workplaces as possible for their support.

Many businesses like to make the day even more fun by incorporating:

  • A bake sale
  • A dress-down day
  • A raffle
  • A workplace quiz

To help you make your day a success, download our printable materials below.

What else can we help with?

    • If you’d like to fundraise online, we can create you a JustGiving page with a QR code, so you can share your page and ask staff and/or customers to donate

    • We’ll share your support on social media, so everyone knows what you’re doing to raise money for St Leonard’s

It’s a small ask that can make a big difference, so will your workplace take part this year? Complete the form below to let us know!

Four fun facts about St Leonard’s Hospice

    1. In our Sunflower Centre at the Hospice, we offer a vast range of free complementary therapies to help with patients’ pain management and quality of life.

    2. The Hospice serves a population of 380,000 across York and the surrounding area.

    3. We receive just 25% of funding from the Government, which means we have to rely on businesses like you for the rest (£7.5 million a year!).

    4. Every pound raised from Bring a Pound to Work Day will support patient care.
