The Moonlight Walk returns!
Returning for another incredible year, we welcome you, your friends, family and loved ones to our popular Moonlight Walk on Saturday 13 September. Get ready to sparkle and shine, as the night begins at 7pm at the Hospice on Tadcaster Road, where you can check in and begin enjoying the festivities. This includes live music from Tri-Starrs and a Sparkle Party from YO1 Radio, with a group warm-up that brings everybody together! There will be activities including glitter painting and stalls. With walkers in their finest bright, sparkling gear, we’ll begin the 7 mile circular route around our city from 9.30 pm.
When you register, you can expect lots of exciting features including:
- A free Moonlight Walk T-shirt.
- Prizes for the best dressed (ensure you are glistening!).
- A fully marshalled route, with encouragement and support every step of the way!
- A delicious bacon sandwich (and vegetarian option) when you step over that finish line.
The Moonlight Walk is all about celebrating the love and support St Leonard’s brings to the community. Over the years, thousands have walked to remember loved ones and for those who still need support. The funds raised and the memories made mean more people are able to receive compassionate care.
Last year, Brooke was a volunteer at the event. She said: “There’s always an exciting buzz and sense of community that really encourages anyone to join in. During the walk too, there are always people cheering and laughing through the city, it really is a fun evening. My favourite part was just getting to know people when I was working on the glitter area with my mum, who works for the Hospice. It was valuable to me to hear people’s stories, make them feel more confident and get them into the spirit.” This shows a community that continues to grow here, and anyone is encouraged to be a part of it!
