Refund procedure

Your legal rights

When you buy goods from a business, in law you have a number of rights as a consumer. These include the right to claim a refund, replacement, repair and/or compensation where the goods are faulty or misdescribed.

Our exchange policy

In addition to your legal rights, we also allow you to exchange certain goods if you simply change your mind.

Please return the unused goods to us with the original till receipt and price ticket still attached within 7 days of purchase.

We will offer you an exchange equivalent to the value of the original item or higher. There is no option to receive change or credit for any remaining balance. Our exchange policy covers the following items:

  • Bric-a-brac
  • Electrical items
  • Bedding and curtains
  • Donated ladies’ clothing, including shoes and accessories
  • Donation men’s clothing, including shoes and accessories
  • Donated children’s clothing, including shoes and accessories

Items not eligible for an exchange are as follows:

  • Books
  • CDs/DVDs
  • Toys, board games and jigsaws

To receive an exchange if you have changed your mind, you must return the item within 7 days. You must return it with a till receipt, and the tag or price label still attached in the same condition it was sold. Shoes must have full labels on each shoe sole.

What if I have bought furniture that has been delivered and it doesn’t fit in my home?
To avoid disappointment, please measure before purchasing any item of furniture. Unless faulty, furniture can only be returned at the discretion of St Leonard’s Hospice. Where a product has been delivered and there is no fault, there will be no refund for delivery charges.

The return of furniture items must be arranged through the furniture shop where the item is purchased. Please contact the shop for more details.

Excluding furniture and bought in goods, items can be returned to, and a refund or exchange issued from, any St Leonard’s Hospice shop, regardless of which St Leonard’s Hospice shop it was purchased from.

Bought in goods
If you have bought the item in one of our shops: If your purchase is faulty, you can return the item to any of our stores within 30 days if you bring your receipt or proof of purchase.

If you have bought the item at our Hospice reception shop: If your purchase is faulty, you can return the item to the Hospice reception shop within 30 days if you bring your receipt or proof of purchase.

Please check all new goods purchases carefully. If you change your mind about one of our new products, it may only be returned if it remains unopened in the original packaging, with ticket attached and a receipt. Our new goods range is limited so we are not able to guarantee a different style or design will be available.
