Val's story
Val Noble, Hospice@Home Nurse
Val Noble has been part of the Hospice’s journey since the very beginning. When the doors first opened, she was the youngest member of staff and found herself in the spotlight early on: “I joined when the Hospice first opened as the youngest member of staff and even had the honour of presenting a bouquet to the Duchess of Kent.”
In the decades since, Val has witnessed the Hospice evolve and grow, while collecting memorable experiences. “Over the years, I’ve seen so many changes and have countless memories, like the afternoon singalongs with my guitar in patients’ rooms during the early days.”
One of the most significant changes, she says, has been the introduction of the Hospice@Home service, which brings the same compassionate care into patients’ homes. “For me, a key development has been the Hospice@Home service, and I feel privileged to be part of this amazing team.”
Reflecting on four decades of service, Val credits her continued dedication to the people she’s cared for and worked alongside. “What has kept me dedicated for 40 years are the patients, their families, and the wonderful colleagues I’ve worked alongside. It’s been a rewarding journey.”
