Ruth Elizabeth Sayner.
14-01-1960 - 20-11-2022
Ruth's whole life has been one of service to the community - the police force and then on retirement from the police, local politics and charitable work with Age UK and then working as a carer. She had a dry, dark and infectious laugh, she was capable, exceptional, independent, generous, dependable, kind and selfless. She would give her all and everything to help anyone and was hugely supportive. Ruth was exceptionally brave during the time that she was ill and always had a positive attitude; she never once complained about how ill she was. She firmly believed that there was no point in being miserable about anything which you can't change. To quote some of her former police colleagues and friends: " She was dearly loved by all who were fortunate to know her and I can assure you that she was an exceptional police officer who was extremely caring and accomplished and I loved working with her". "Every member of the team enjoyed working with Ruth and trusted her utterly". Ruth was memorable and has left a big gap in our lives.

In memory of Ruth who I remember meeting only a few times but who was always very warm, kind and empathetic. I heard of her illness and her adding away with great sadness. May she now rest in peace.

In loving memory of Ruth Sayner who I held in total admiration. A real giver to others throughout her life. Generous with her heart and with her things to the end. Tough, independent, straightforward and decent. With a naughty and sometimes dark sense of humour - but always from a good place. And supremely positive in the face of the greatest adversity ... she is a lesson to us all and will be sorely missed.
