Lottery luck for Summer Super Draw winner Ken

Pocklington resident and retired father of two, Ken Dobbins, recently celebrated scooping top prize in the St Leonard’s Lottery Summer Super Draw.

Ken, who is a regular player of our weekly lottery, was thrilled to win a £500 cash prize plus a luxury hamper.

His wife, Hazel, was cared for by the Hospice 22 years ago. He remembers the key moments that made such a difference to Hazel and the family during her final days.

“What struck me most about St Leonard’s Hospice was the atmosphere. I miss going there to visit Hazel very much.

“Within hours of her being first admitted, she was made to feel comfortable. It was the first time in months she had been pain free and that made a world of difference to her. I asked the nurses how they do it and they simply said we listen to what the patient wants, and we act on it.”

Ken has been playing the weekly lottery since it started. “I can’t do everything, but I do whatever I can to support St Leonard’s. I was surprised and delighted to found out I’d won the Super Draw – it couldn’t have come at a better time really as I’ve just had my front windows replaced.”
