Amanda Allman’s Ironman 70.3 Triathlon.
2022-09-18
I’m going to complete a middle distance triathlon – a distance of 70.3 miles – to raise money for a charity close to my heart. St Leonards Hospice provides support, respite, care and most importantly, love to those with terminal illness. They are real angels!
Story
They look after each patient as though they are their own flesh and blood, and support their families to cope through the most heart wrenching times. Their services and love are provided free, for which they need to raise over £5m each year and this has been even harder to achieve in the last couple of years. They supported my dear Grandma to have a peaceful and dignified end, surrounded by family and I will forever be thankful to them. I’d like to ask you to donate to help this amazing place to continue to provide care for those who need it. The event I’d booked on has been cancelled, but I don’t want the months of training and painful sports massages to go to waste – so I’m going to do my own event. At least this way I don’t need to endure the washing machine like kerfuffle of a mass start swim and can stop and have sandwiches while out on my bike and then hobble round the run without worrying about a cut-off! So I’m going to start at Allerthorpe Lake and swim for 1.2 miles, bike (hopefully warming up quickly) for 56 miles, then hobble for 13.1 miles – my incentive is to finish in time for a bacon butty in the café before it closes! Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart X Amanda
