Supporting the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month
At St Leonard’s, our vision is that everyone living with a life-limiting illness has access to the best possible care, and is supported to die well.
Our aim is to offer accessible services that reflect the diverse and changing needs of the people we support.
This Pride Month, we’re focusing on the needs of LGBTQ+ people in our community who are living with a life-limiting illness.
We want to help open up conversations about death, dying and planning ahead, and provide support in a safe, inclusive space.
Many of us don’t realise that we can make plans now to ensure our priorities and wishes are known. This helps make sure that, if the time comes when we can’t speak for ourselves, those closest to us are heard.
We’re also keen to learn how we can do more to make our services accessible and inclusive. If you have thoughts or suggestions, we’d love to hear from you. You can share your feedback using the form below.
What’s on during Pride Month:
- We’ll be at York Pride on Saturday 7 June, from 10am to 6.30pm, at the Knavesmire. Come along and visit our stall where members of our wellbeing team will be there to offer support, advice and information. It’s a great chance to ask questions and find out more about what we do. We’ll also have free complementary therapies and face-painting!
- Our Sunflower Wellbeing Hub runs every Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm at the Sunflower Centre, here at the Hospice. This is a welcoming drop-in space for anyone in our community living with a life-limiting illness. You’re welcome to pop in for advice, a chat, or simply to find out more about the support available. Find out what Mary thinks about the Hub in the short film below.
If you’d rather speak to someone directly, you’re also welcome to contact us. One of our team will be happy to talk through what we offer and how we can help.
