In memory of my beautiful wife and mother of our son Phillip, Wendy Heptinstall who died peacefully at St Leonards Hospice on Thursday 4th June 2020 after a brave fight with cancer. As well as her wider family she will be missed by everyone who knew her, and that was most of York. In these times it is not possible for everyone to attend the funeral and in place of this we would ask that people who wish too could donate to St Leonards in her memory through this tribute page. Wendy’s final days were spent at the hospice as she wished, where she was looked after exceptionally well by all the staff and volunteers there. Wendy had fundraised tirelessly for the hospice for the last ten years or more and enjoyed a close relationship with the team. It would be lovely if you could leave a memory of your relationship with Wendy to comfort us at this sad time and be sure that every penny raised will help this fantastic organisation carry on the never ending task of supporting families through their toughest times allowing others to receive the fabulous care and support that Wendy experienced.

I first met Wendy when I had the privilege of teaching Phillip when he was 5 (he was very cute), she was such a lovely mum. When I took classes on Wendy's Farm to Fork visits, she was brilliant - so lovely with the children and very organised. The children and the staff loved these visits. It was always a pleasure to meet Wendy in or out of work and have a chat. Wendy has touched so many lives in such positive ways.

Wendy could light up the room with her friendly smile and positive attitude, she is an inspiration as she gave so much to everyone. Nothing was a challenge to her when helping others, she just got on with it. It will always be a mystery where she managed to pull a raffle prize or donation from, the most resourceful person I have ever met. I think she just has so many people that love her and owed her a favour

My Friend. I am proud to say those two words about this wonderful lady Wendy Heptinstall. Everyone who knew her, worked with her, or was lucky enough to be helped by her endless generosity would say the same. I was lucky enough to work alongside Wendy in the community of York where we did so many things together. Painting walls at Snappy, selling cakes at St Crux to raise funds, toy collections for the Salvation Army at Christmas. Lunches for our Age UK guests , delivered by Rotary Club volunteers at Christmas. Fancy dress fundraising, and of course the epic Car Boot sales at Easter. Farm to Fork trails for all our younger friends. Brass bands at Christmas and best of all the parties we held for all of our colleagues children at Halloween, Christmas and Easter. Our world is diminished by your passing, too soon for us but the time was right for you. We will miss you always, My Friend.
