Events Fundraiser – 37.5 Hours

Are you a ‘hands-on’ person who is comfortable working both with the Fundraising Team here at St Leonard’s and with individuals from the local community?  Do you relish the opportunity to lead, develop, expand and plan future fundraising projects for St Leonard’s Hospice?

Do you set high standards and have the ability to bring fresh ideas to an established high-peforming team with plenty of energy and enthusiasm?  Are you committed to putting ‘the patient at the centre of everything we do”?

Your experience will be in fundraising in the charity sector with a real flair to meet and exceed fundraising/income generation targets.  You will already have a proven track record in fundraising in the third sector.  You will be excited by the prospect of joining an organisation in the process of implementing a new vision for its future, and looking to embrace a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Most importantly, you will have a genuine passion for hospice work and meeting the needs of existing and new supporters.

You will deliver exceptional fundraising by supporting the Supporter Engagement Team Leader, the Head of Fundraising and members of the Fundraising Team with on-going fundraising events, stewarding schools fundraising and developing new innovative ideas for future events and fundraising initiatives.

It is essential that you enjoy a challenge, with an eye to how we can strategically grow these areas of fundraising.


  1. To work with fundraising colleagues to co-ordinate key hospice events, selecting suppliers as required.
  2. Empowered by the Supporter Engagement Team Leader to produce the full portfolio of Hospice events, from Day 1 planning to independent event execution and to carry out full evaluations of all current fundraising activities, ensuring any learning points are captured and reflected in ongoing events.
  3. To manage fundraising in school settings to encourage support in our local community from a young age
  4. To work with the Communications and Marketing Team to ensure all events receive adequate PR coverage and are sufficiently planned into the Hospice communications calendar.
  5. Source appropriate branded material necessary for the execution of the event and ensure this meets the guidelines as directed by the Communications Team and the Head of Fundraising within the agreed budget for any event.
  6. Maximise all marketing opportunities for events including website, community promotion, social media and e-bulletins to supporters as appropriate.
  7. Provide cover for colleagues as directed by the Supporter Engagement Team Leader.
  8. Responding to enquiries from the public, volunteers, fundraisers etc via phone, email or in person, including responding to requests for information and material.
  9. To manage the fundraising team inbox, responding to enquiries from the public, volunteers, fundraisers etc or signposting appropriately.
  10. To work closely with other departments within the Hospice, encouraging their support for and attendance at events.
  11. To promote the Hospice and act as a representative of the Hospice in formal and informal ways, including attendance and speaking at functions and events as required.
  12. To be a member of and attend when appropriate, meetings of the Hospice Income Generation Network
  13. To work with the Retail team in respect of special promotional opportunities using the shop windows, ensuring the corporate image and message of the Hospice is upheld, as well as identifying activities and stock usage that has greatest benefit to the Hospice.
